The 2009 MSM Musicathon for the benefit of Dustin Manwiller raised over $10,000!

Thank you to our students, parents and sponsors who helped create this "Extreme Musical Makeover!"

On the weekend of April 4 and 5, from 12:00 noon Saturday through 12:00 noon Sunday, Music Simply Music hosted a 24-hour Musicathon for the benefit of Dustin Manwiller, a young man from Centereach, who incurred life-altering injuries due to an automobile accident in November of 2006.

Due to your talents and support we were able to raise over $10,000 to assist the Manwiller family in caring for their son, Dustin. Music Simply Music initiated the first Musicathon in the United States in 1992 with the sole purpose of assisting families in our community whom have incurred exorbitant medical expenses due to a sick child.  This was an opportunity for students to use their talents to have a tremendously positive impact on a Long Island family and that is exactly what the participants in the 2009 Musicathon accomplished!

It was an awesome (and exhausting!) weekend, but one that proved that you are never too young, too old or too inexperienced to make a difference with your music.  From our spirited ensemble opening song of Heart and Soul to the solemn closing of John Lennon's Imagine, we kept the music going for 24 straight, uninterrupted hours!  Our night crew of nine students insured that the music did not even stop in the wee hours of the morning.

We are extremely proud of our students, parents and sponsors who made this event a reality.  Thank you for using your talents to make a positive impact on your community!
